PRONTO

Riders can use the PRONTO app or a PRONTO card to ride MTS buses and Trolleys. Simply load money to your PRONTO card or app account, then tap or scan every time you ride! (Riders must tap their card or scan the app at validators located on board buses or on Trolley station platforms before each trip.)

Get PRONTO

Get the PRONTO App by searching for "PRONTO San Diego" in the Apple or Google Play stores, or use the links below. To get a PRONTO card, go to any Trolley station ticket machine, the MTS Transit Store, NCTD Customer Service Center, or find a retail location near you at RidePRONTO.com. Riders with a PRONTO card are encouraged to register their card online at RidePRONTO.com, over the phone with PRONTO Support (619-595-5636) or in-person at the MTS Transit Store. Registering your PRONTO card is the only way to protects its balance if the card gets lost or stolen.

Tap or Scan to Earn Passes

PRONTO uses best fare (fare capping) technology to allow you to pay-as-you-go: When you tap or scan, a one-way fare will be deducted from your balance (one-way fares on PRONTO are valid for two hours)
Once you reach the value of a Day Pass, your card or app will stop being charged (still tap or scan every time you ride!)
If you make enough trips in a calendar month to reach the value of a month pass, your card or app will stop being charged
Riders who still prefer to pre-pay for a month pass still can. Month passes are valid from the first through the last day of the calendar month.
